The Charleston Area Sports Commission works behind the scenes to recruit, attract and retain sports events for the Charleston region.
Did you know that in the year 2013, the Charleston region was the 'backdrop' for over 200 sports travel competitions? Or, that each event will need accommodations ranging from 100 to 5,000 room nights? Or, that each event will utilize (on average) 20 local service providers?
Our research shows that for each of the 80,000+ sports visitors, he/she will take in one hour of "sport" activity compared to another four hours of dining and entertainment. This is a 1:4 ratio, working in our favor, as new revenue dollars created from the local sports travel industry.
